Timing belts and sprockets are important components of 3D printers. I've long considered using 3D printed timing belts and sprockets in some of my 3D printed models but had never fully studied their design and did not know whether or not I could design and 3D print them. This model is my first GT2 profile belt and sprocket design. The belt was 3D printed in Ultimaker TPU filament, and the sprockets and base were 3D printed in Ultimaker PLA filament. The belt consists of 60 teeth and is 6mm wide. The sprockets consist of 20 teeth. The sprocket to sprocket spacing is 40mm. The model requires a N20 6VDC 60RPM gear motor and a 6VDC power supply. The included video illustrates the assembly process. I was actually quite surprised that it worked and will be incorporating 3D printed TPU belts and 3D printed PLA sprockets in some of my upcoming models! Designed using Autodesk Fusion 360, sliced using Ultimaker Cura 4.12.1 Engineering profile, and 3D printed in TPU (belt) and PLA (sprockets, axle and base) on Ultimaker S5s.
