9x4.7 Propeller
grabcad
A 9x4.7 propeller, ideal for airplane and multicopter designs, has been crafted using a Ruby script that employs prop geometry from the website http://www.ae.illinois.edu/m-selig/props/propDB.html and airfoil geometry from http://airfoiltools.com/airfoil/details?airfoil=naca4412-il. The script generates 2D slices of the propeller, which are then imported into Solidworks and lofted together to create the final product. Initially, the positioning of each slice was estimated with two piecewise functions; however, this has since been refined, resulting in a single-loft blade design using the NACA 4412 airfoil shape. The propeller's code and details can be found on http://whenrobotsfly.tumblr.com/.
