9mm Case Screen
thingiverse
This is a screen I use to sort brass with precision. There are two versions, one has slats that are 11mm wide, while the other is 10.5mm. Both work effectively but depend on how accurate your printer's calibration is. Start with the smaller one and if it doesn't work, switch to the 11mm version. The 11mm may let some .40 S&W bullets pass through if you shake too hard, so be gentle when using it. The 45 Grate is designed to capture all calibers except for 45, as its slats are a precise 11.4 mm wide. The grate itself is made of a sturdy 3mm thick metal that fits perfectly into a standard 1/2 ream printer paper box. (See pictures.) This setup has saved me a tremendous amount of time when sorting brass I've collected after a shooting session. I begin by starting with mixed brass and using the 9mm grate over a bucket to separate the calibers. I rarely get anything but 9mm in the box, but occasionally find a stray .380 bullet in the bucket. Next, I use the 45 grate to sort out the remaining bullets, leaving me with only 40 caliber bullets in the bucket and the 45 caliber bullets in their designated container. Your mileage may vary, but this system works incredibly well and fits snugly into any box designed to hold standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper.
