Cut a 9mm belt in half to obtain two 4.5mm belts that work well with 6mm pulleys; these are strong enough for most applications. To split the belts, print a guide, insert the belt through the slot, place an X-Acto or utility knife in the slot and notch, then pull the belt until it is divided.
