9G Servo Lateral Mount HXT900 / stop gluing your servos :-)
thingiverse
I've built another EPO model where the servos are encased in glue-hardened foam. Unfortunately, on my first flight, the yaw rudder servo died after takeoff - a frustrating experience, to say the least, when you have to replace a stuck servo. To avoid this problem with future models and all others like them, I decided to design a case that is embedded within the foam. This way, the servo remains secure thanks to a top plate and two screws. The housing I created has mirror-like symmetry and features two cable channels, allowing me to install the servo in either direction if needed. I based the dimensions of this casing on an HXT900 servo's specifications. Given that one of the cable ducts runs all the way down to the bottom, it should also accommodate 9g servos with their cables at the bottom without any issues.
