9g Servo arms, different couplers to 5mm threaded rod WIP
thingiverse
Thingiverse offers great resources for 3D printing enthusiasts. However, flouSH's part needed some adjustments due to differences in tolerances and print properties of the PP3DP UP. This led to a learning opportunity regarding reprap/slic3r vs closed source software. The user also shared a Sketchup SKP file containing a 3D model of the servo and inner gear setup, as no similar models were found. Unfortunately, the model lacked precision due to unavailability of digital caliper. An update was made with the servo arm model (servoarm.skp/Servoarms.stl) for printing purposes. Another update included a servo topper coupling that sits on top of the four-arm without requiring additional screws. The user is currently experimenting with the original part, adjusting holes and trying different techniques to print little teeth for securing the servo. Super glue has been identified as a last resort. The user plans to create a drop-in nut slot for securing the M5 threaded rod and continues working on the project. Despite the challenges, thingiverse provides ready-to-print models that can significantly contribute to projects. The user also tightened the hole for the threaded rod for better fitting in the UP printer. Cleaning up the WIP files before printing is recommended as they are quick & dirty.
