9g Hexapod Pi Zero Camera Updated Version
thingiverse
This is a remix of Hardmouse's 9g Hexapod with Zalophus's Camera Mount. (Work in progress) My ultimate goal is to make this autonomous (using S.L.A.M), but for now, I'll just use facial tracking. This is kind of untested; I have printed and assembled the bot, but haven't got to coding/testing yet. The last 4 servos are driven from the Pi. Use the hardware PWM pins (GPIO13 & GPIO18) for the legs and any other pins (software PWM) for the camera mount. Remember NOT to power them from the Pi. Components required: Raspberry Pi Zero v1.3 Pi Camera with Pi Zero Cable (cable is different to regular one) Adafruit 16 Channel Servo Module Link. 20 x 9g Servos (I used Tower Pro SG90s) Mini WIFI Dongle like this attached using this. 10 x M3 nuts & bolts 42 x m2 self-tapping screws (6mm) 9 x m2 nuts bolts 14mm You will also need the mounting screws that came with your servos Whats been changed/added: Hexapod Body: Removed old mounting holes and created new holes to mount the Pi. Cut holes for the servo arms to sit in (The servo arms are usually made out of a flexible plastic so mounting on top allows the arms to twist, making the whole thing less stable). Widened the mounting section for the head and gave it two holes for stability. Hexapod Legs: Cut holes for the servo arms on the leg mid-section (again to make it more sturdy and make the leg narrower). Hexapod Other: Added spacers for the Pi to sit on (As the pi has the bottom of the header pins sticking out the bottom on one side and to allow the WIFI dongle to sit straight). Glue these on the body before mounting the Pi. Added mount for an Adafruit 16 channel servo module (this also serves as a cable tidy) Camera Mount: Modified bottom plate to attach instead of hexapod head. Modified bottom plate cover to allow for new screw placement on bottom plate. The only thing left is the power supply, You'll have to modify the tail section for your chosen battery setup. I will be adding the code once I've had time to do it.
