9Ah Battery Base
thingiverse
This battery mount was originally designed for a Duracell 9Ah/12VDC AGM battery, model DURA 12-9NB. The battery is part of an emergency/portable power supply built into a Pelican 1300 case. Given that battery's weight of 5 pounds, 9 ounces, the base needed to be sturdy and secure when carrying the case. The dimensions of the Duracell battery are 5.95 inches long by 2.56 inches wide by 3.9 inches high. This mount will fit a variety of cases, vehicles, boats, RVs, trailers, or shelves at home. Design features a base with reinforced sidewalls and ten mounting screw holes on the bottom, plus two screws on the back for securing the base to the rear of the Pelican Case. The tapered shims were included due to the sloping sidewalls of the Pelican 1300. Several small holes around this piece are for zip ties used to secure wiring. Cutouts in the base allow for 3/4-inch securing straps, which I use Velcro for but you can also use a nylon strap. A small foam pad is placed at the bottom of the battery holder to cushion the battery slightly. I recently upgraded the case to accommodate a Bioenno LiFePo battery (BLF-1209WS) measuring 6 inches by 2.6 inches by 3.8 inches or 151mm x 65mm x 95mm. This was a straightforward drop-in replacement. The LiFePo battery weighs only 2.6 pounds, reducing the load on the battery holder and my arm when carrying the case.
