Update 14/01/2021 As requested, Added a single piece file for those with larger build volumes who want to print in one piece. Update 09/09/2020 Added a new version of the right base with an extra PCB support. Tested on my two PCBs and is in the correct place, so hopefully this works for others too. Added an extra standoff for those that have already printed the original design and don't want to reprint the whole right side of the case again. Update 03/09/2020: Added a version of the left and right body pieces with 2.5mm holes so M2 threaded inserts can be used instead (Filenames: Body L 2mm/Body R 2mm). Added M2 inserts to the BoM. Added a single piece riser in case you have the print volume to print it in one go. Added an STL of a round foot which can be used instead of the two-piece riser. I have added a second variant, codenamed: 'Granular Theory (Stoic Reluctance)' to say thanks to those that have already helped me out by buying my previous design, and to make the package a better value proposition for those that might be on the fence. Only the body and stripes are different, the feet/dowels are the same. I wanted to create a customisable keyboard case with non-permanent assembly so that I could change styles with keycaps, or as my mood takes me, as well as something which can fit into smaller build volumes. The design also had to be neutral in styling, so as to work with as many keycap combos as possible. After much testing I came up with this design! To assemble you simply need to print the left and right body pieces, and either three of the stripes, or one of the 3 Part Stripe in whatever colour(s) you desire, as well as two of the small dowel pieces. For the optional 5 degree riser, you need to print the left and right pieces and an extra dowel. Or if you'd prefer, print two of the small round feet instead, and use the 8mm rubber bumpons after securing it to the case. Assembly is very straightforward as the pieces slot together in one orientation only, the dowels are simply there for alignment of the outer edges and to provide some rigidity. This should fit most 96% PCBs out there however it is only tested with the Melody96. The included riser attaches via the two holes in the underneath (and into the pre-inserted M3 threaded inserts). This gives a 5 degree typing angle, though any feet with M3 screws will fit, or simply use a different size of threaded insert to use other screw sizes. BoM (eBay links): M3 threaded inserts: https://bit.ly/37AwOIa M2 threaded inserts: https://bit.ly/3gXdUyp For the riser, there is a space to fit 8mm diameter feet, I use these and they work perfectly: https://bit.ly/37yMDiG In both cases I ordered mine from aliexpress as it's significantly cheaper, though you then have the long shipping to contend with.
