915 Mhz MOXON antenna for drone telemetry
thingiverse
This is a high-performance MOXON antenna for 915 MHz drone telemetry applications. It boasts more directivity and gain compared to a standard 1/2 wave whip antenna, delivering significantly better results. To assemble this MOXON antenna, use 16-gauge bare copper wire as the primary material. First, press the wire into the grooves using a bench vise with soft jaws, taking care not to damage the delicate metal. Next, utilize a flat-blade screwdriver to securely seat the wire within the grooves. The key to this design lies in its configuration: the driven element, located at the front of the antenna, consists of two distinct sections, while the reflector is a single piece situated at the rear. This deliberate separation enables optimal performance and helps minimize interference. A small groove in the center allows for easy routing of coaxial cable underneath the reflector wire as it makes its way to the driven element. To ensure a secure connection, use very short wires at the end of the coax and solder them directly to the driven element. When complete, reinforce the wires within the grooves using a small amount of cyanoacrylate (CA) glue to prevent movement and ensure stability. Finally, attach the provided GoPro-style clamp to mount the antenna on any convenient surface for optimal performance.
