I designed this 9-sided box using the Grasshopper add-on in Rhino3D. The powerful parametric modeling capabilities of Grasshopper enable users to dynamically alter all model parameters. The screenshot of the Grasshopper control panel showcases every setting for this box, including the knob on top that can be a torus, a dodecahedron, or a sphere. A triangular ridge around the box's top edge snugly fits into a similar groove in the box top, creating a seamless connection between the two parts. This ridge has its own set of parameters for size and shape control. If no top is required, the box can feature a rounded lip instead. Due to Grasshopper's unique quirks that may cause confusion, I will not be posting the actual Grasshopper source file here, but I am happy to provide it to anyone interested along with an explanation of how it works.
