9 Piston Radial Engine

9 Piston Radial Engine

I designed this radial engine specifically for a client, featuring a diameter of 190 mm. Standing at an impressive height of 36.5 mm, the engine boasts a hole measuring 60 mm. The precision-engineered rods connecting to the piston measure 3 mm in thickness and 60.5 mm in length. A surprising discovery was that wooden skewers proved to be an effective substitute for traditional materials. Constructed from two separate pieces with no need for supports, assembly is as simple as gluing the components together. I've included a version of the engine featuring all nine pistons, which had been removed from the original design to accommodate ventilation purposes. If you decide to print this radial engine, we'd love to see how it turns out. I printed mine at 0.2 mm resolution and a speed of 60 mm/s using PLA material with an infill percentage of 30%.
