9-Pin D-Sub Plug (Secure)

9-Pin D-Sub Plug (Secure)

thingiverse

This instruction details an alternative design to a previous plug enclosure, featuring no need for screws. The cable roll can be made using DE-9 connector or 15 Pin (VGA), printed with ABS on a Makerbot 3D printer. Epoxy is used to assemble the shell and enjoy the easy-to-bend retaining clips for convenient plug-and-lock functionality. Non-locking plugs can be achieved using two inner shells for push-together, pull-apart cables. The connector is great for projects and looks excellent when printed raftless; STL and Sketchup files are included. An earlier version with 4-40 screws is also available if interest in a glue-together vs. screw-together version arises. Note that weather tightness is untested, possibly requiring foam/rubber O rings for proper sealing.
