9-18V Motor (RadioShack) Gearbox
thingiverse
This is a gearbox housing specifically designed for an 18-volt motor, sourced from Radio Shack (radioshack.com/radioshack-super-speed-9-18vdc-hobby-motor). The internal gears and hardware originate from a Tamiya gearbox, modified to accommodate a larger engine. To build this housing, I utilized a 3mm layer height and black hatchbox ABS filament in the printing process, ensuring that the motor lock tab stayed securely fastened to the print bed. Update: To fine-tune my creation, I used a 3mm drill bit to polish out the holes and a Dremel tool for smoothing around the engine mounts. I'll have to reassess those hole sizes eventually but my solution proved adequate for my requirements.
