This hourglass sand timer features natural translucent PLA for its "glass" component, which fully encases the sand. Two versions exist – one with a slimmer neck and another wider option. Utilize craft store sand for coarser grains in the former version, and finer sand for the latter. Print size and sand type affect time duration; in this case, 9 seconds and 12 seconds respectively. Printing occurs on MakerBot Replicator s with PLA at standard resolution and 1 shell/0% infill. Aim for a 200% scale when constructing. Key is accurately pouring measured sand into the enclosed glass during print pause (at approximately 95%).
