Caroline Jeffra, an experimental archaeologist, crafts a part of a pot using the wheel-throwing technique. Kelly Papastergiou, another archaeologist, scans the object with a DAVID SLS-3 structured light scanner for 3D imaging. The texture is captured by a native DAVID-camera. Initially, the fusion resolution stands at 0.0353mm (vertex spacing), resulting in an OBJ file that weighs 1.01GB and contains 6995258 vertices. However, to make it suitable for online publication, the file is reduced to 637204 vertices, ultimately shrinking its size to 179MB.
