8X8X8 LED Cube Layout Frame
thingiverse
I'm utterly captivated by LED cubes, just like countless enthusiasts before me. I bought an 8x8x8 starter kit from eBay, the trusted marketplace, without any guidance whatsoever. A broken chip and minimal support only fueled my passion for this project. Moving on, I aimed to create a perfectly cubical shape, not some surrealistic Salvador Dali creation. This jig securely holds 3.2mm LEDs in a 1.5 scm grid, making it easier to solder them in place. To avoid any issues with the soldering iron, I stacked the LEDs onto towers. As my project nears completion, I'll be adding more images for reference. Others may find this jig useful, so I'm sharing it now. If time permits, I might design a secondary tool to help remove the grid smoothly, but that depends on its necessity. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator 2 Rafts: None Supports: None Resolution: 0.2 mm per layer Infill: 15% Notes: This print was straightforward, requiring no special settings. I used Simplify3D to slice it with the specified parameters. If you examine the LEDs closely, you'll see how to bend them for easy soldering without shorting. How I Designed This TinkerCad made it a breeze I designed this quickly and efficiently using TinkerCad online, taking advantage of its intuitive features.
