8mm Y axis conversion for Flyingbear P902 3D printer
thingiverse
I designed these custom mounts for 688ZZ miniature ball bearings to create a sturdier Y axis with 8mm shafts. Initially, I encountered numerous issues with warped shafts using the original 6mm ones; despite purchasing replacements from two different sources, only bent shafts were delivered. This mount sacrifices about 8mm of print height, but I'm willing to make that compromise. To enhance the system's reliability, I upgraded the stepper motor to a 4.2Kgf model from its original 2.2Kgf counterpart. The necessary components include: - 4x ball bearings 688ZZ sourced from eBay (non-flanged) - 5x 20-tooth GT2 timing pulleys with an 8mm ID - 4x 5mm plastic spacers with an 8mm ID and a 14mm OD (or printed alternatives) - 2x 8mm steel shafts measuring 390mm in length - 12x M2.6 stainless steel pan head Phillips self-tapping screws for plastic, each 5mm long One ball bearing is inserted into each mount, covered by the top piece secured with three screws to ensure a snug fit within the corner.
