8mm rod stabilizer for Tatara Frames
thingiverse
I love my Tatara Frame, but I've discovered that relying on your cutting service can result in holes for the 8mm rods being a bit too large, causing unwanted movement of the rods. To keep the rods stable, you have two options: print eight additional pieces and mount them on the other sides of the rod retainers or ask the Tatara team to add these components to their .dxf files so they can be cut in one go. It doesn't matter if the hole on the rod retainer is slightly larger than necessary; the point of these pieces is to manually tighten them while securing the rod retainer, preventing any motion of the smooth rods. I initially printed these rod tighteners using plain ABS (PLA is also suitable) with 100% infill. The reason they feature a slot instead of just a screw hole is so you can mount them correctly on the Z motor plates to stabilize both ends of the Y rods and the bottom and top of the Z rods.
