8bit Zombie
thingiverse
I designed the 8-bit Zombie back in 2008 as a video game concept. Since then, it's undergone numerous transformations, evolving into this 2014 version - a 3D-printed sculpture. This is the starting point for an upcoming series of miniatures inspired by classic 8-bit graphics, which I plan to release specifically for use in roleplaying and fantasy tabletop games. Instructions The creation process began with using Photoshop to produce the original 8-bit image. The next step involved converting that image into a vector format, allowing me to apply a three-dimensional effect to it in software. By saving the extruded design as an .STL file, I could then scale, duplicate, and position multiple instances of the image within Makerware before sending it to be printed. Since no rafts or supports were necessary, this simplified the printing process. The model has been saved at a height of three inches and a thickness of five-eighths of an inch. To produce the 8-bit Zombie sculpture, I utilized Glow in the Dark PLA filament on a Replicator 2 printer.
