868/915mhz Moxon antenna, tune verifyed by Ibcrazy
thingiverse
Modified version of the 868mhz Moxon by DzikuVx (Pawel Spychalski) is a game-changer. Tune verification for 868mhz and 915mhz was done by Ibcrazy himself, and it's a testament to his expertise. This design is specifically crafted to use rg402 plastic covered coax cable and 1.3mm solid copper wire, which can be sourced from stripping 220/230v rigid installation cable. If you don't have access to the specified wire, you can also use 22/24awg pvc insulated wire or regular servo wire, but keep in mind that the swr will be slightly higher. However, this is a common compromise that most people make, and it's definitely easier to work with. The results are staggering - an SWR of 1.03 for the 868mhz version and 1.06 for the 915mhz version, which is simply amazing! To achieve these incredible numbers, it's essential to ensure that the wire runs the entire length of the channels and that the channels are filled with glue after the wire is fully seated. The glue plays a crucial role in the tune, so don't skip this step - use E6000, epoxy, or wellers, which are all non-conductive and non-metallic. You can also check out my method for preparing the coax by making a U-shaped cutout in the shield and bending the center leader. This creates a very durable solder joint on the active element. Additionally, I made a small L-bend on the ground element to increase the surface area for the solder joint. To ensure a smooth printing process, cut the wires too long and do the final cut flush with the channel ends after the wire is soldered and mostly seated. It's also recommended to seat the reflector wire before seating the rg402. The 868 and 915 text models have been added to the design, and they print flawlessly. Print settings: * Infill: 24% * Wall lines: 3 * Bottom layers: at least 3 * Top layers: at least 3 * Filter out tiny gaps: disabled * Brim: enable if you have poor bed adhesion * Material: PLA or PETG only
