Inside of the Swingaway Mirror used on the 83-92 Ford Ranger, there is a plastic socket in a ball-and-socket assembly which provides the tension to hold the mirror in position. This plastic socket can crack apart, and when it does, the mirror will not stay in position. This plastic part is not available and no commonly available part can replace it, hence these 3D parts.This part is likely shared, or similar to the part used in mirrors on other Ford vehicles with similar design mirrors, such as some F-series, E-series, Aerostar, and Bronco II (which itself uses the exact same mirrors as the Ranger).Note that there are other potential failures so you must take the mirror apart to identify the problem before assuming this will solve it.
