This is one of the tools most frequently used in agriculture. This type of hoes is characterized by an almost trapezoidal body with a more or less curved cutting edge that slices through weeds with ease. The socket for the wooden shaft is oval shaped, allowing for a sturdy grasp. These types of artefacts are extremely common in the Dacian fortresses area of the Orăştiei Mountains, and over fifty of them have been discovered in various archaeological contexts. Historical Date: the 1st century AD through to the beginning of the 2nd century AD is when these hoes were in use. Time period: This tool falls under the Late Iron Age (Dacian). Digitization Method: a team from Technical University of Cluj-Napaca used 3D Laser scanning to capture this artefact's details.
