Depending on the amount of ABS or other plastics with potentially hazardous chemicals you print, it's recommended to change the filter every few months. Since replacement filters are only available from Dremel, and they come at a steep price, many users may find themselves in a difficult situation. I have created this printable filter to make up for the unavailability of official replacement parts. The 80mm square filter is approximately 8mm thick, providing ample space for activated carbon granules to absorb pollutants from the air. To print this filter, you'll need two essential components: activated carbon granules and a suitable fabric for dust particles and preventing the granules from escaping. You can find activated carbon granules on eBay or other online marketplaces, but be sure to purchase the smallest size available, as larger granules may require crushing before use. HEPA anti-dust cotton air purifier is ideal for this purpose, but any cotton fabric will suffice, even an old shirt. To assemble the filter, follow these steps: 1. Use a honeycomb template to draw two squares on your chosen fabric and cut them out with scissors. 2. Place one square in the front cover and the other in the back cover of the filter. 3. Position the honeycomb over the smaller cover, fill it with activated carbon granules, and secure the larger cover on top, ensuring the cotton cloth covers all holes. To replace the existing filter, unlatch the filter door inside the printer, remove the two-part filter, and install your new unit. Don't forget to "tip designer" if this DIY solution saves you money!
