808 #16 camera box with wide angle lens and mobile phone battery
thingiverse
I wanted better battery life and a wider angle lens for my trusty #16 keyring camera so I crafted this compact enclosure. It may fit other cameras like mine but that's still untested. Please keep in mind this is an early prototype, don't expect perfection just yet. I won't post finalized printable STL files with every iteration - you can create your own using the SketchUp file I'm including if you wish. To print this successfully, your 3D printer needs to be calibrated pretty precisely. Key features: • It incorporates my wide angle lens files to produce a flawless hole for the lens to settle into. • Fits a Nokia BLB-2 3.6V 700mah battery, making your camera run until you've filled a 32gb microsd card. • A reminder: recharge your phone from its original charger and not within this enclosure; I'm not liable for any accidental fires caused by misguided charging methods. Some required modifications include: • Extend the internal wires to access them through the battery compartment - flat copper connections work best. • Once connected, ensure the positive wire is closest to the hole. Things left to tackle: - Easier battery terminal access - Revamping access panels (both for battery and lid) - Further polishing and refining Version 2 was uploaded on September 19th, 2014 - as evidenced by recent photos. Features added include: • A hinge mechanism for the top lid • Added a flippable door for easier battery installation And more to come in the coming versions!
