8020 Dust adaptor for Festool dust extractor
thingiverse
This is a custom dust adaptor designed specifically for attaching to the end of a piece of 3030 or 3060 80/20 extruded aluminum. I built it to serve as a part of my personal router fence constructed from high-quality 3" x 6" extrusions produced by the well-respected brand 80/20. The carefully engineered holes are optimized for accepting standard-sized 5/16" screws, providing a sturdy foundation for the entire assembly. A significant feature of this adaptor is its adaptability; it's made to accept the 34mm hose connected directly from a Festool dust extractor, making quick work of clean-up and minimizing potential messes. Additionally, strategically created small indentations within the tube facilitate effortless use with button head screws. By ensuring that the outer edge of the base remains perfectly sized, it's still easy to install T-nuts into every available slot on all sides of the extrusion, further reinforcing its reliability. I deliberately chose to create the base and the main tubing with a thickness of 1/4 inch to ensure seamless compatibility. The results indicate that using even just 25% infill is more than sufficient for maintaining a high level of strength and functionality. Notably, I opted to produce it from the versatile plastic material ABS. I've constructed this dust adaptor not only to address my personal needs but with the sincere hope that its features and functionalities can serve as valuable resources for others who may be working on similar projects in their workshops or home environments.
