8020 10-Series Extrusion Drop-in Nut
thingiverse
Modeled to suit all 8020 Series 10 extrusions, this drop-in nut is inspired by rlspell's design at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:17194. Secure it with a #10 screw and use it for non-structural purposes such as panel attachment or self-supporting frame connections. Do not apply to weight-bearing structures. For safe and reliable usage, opt for genuine 8020 hardware available from distributors or eBay (search for 8020inc). Printed with PLA on a Makerbot Replicator 2 using 100% infill, one shell, 0.2mm layer height, and an extrusion speed of 80mm/sec; travel speed of 150mm/sec. Attach it with #10 self-tapping plastic screws or, like me, drill with a #25 bit and tap with a 10-24 tap. An update reveals that Taulman 645 nylon produces exceptional results; it's strong and resists thread stripping, although it requires Rep2 adjustments for successful printing.
