I've had a problem with cheap A4988 stepper drivers overheating on my Sunhokey Prusa i3 from time to time. Made this to remedy that issue. The 12 V 80mm fan is plugged directly into one of the 12 V outlets on the main board. The fan starts as soon as the printer is powered up. I made a quick fix for the bracket, but it's not very sturdy. I didn't have any long 3mm screws, so the back plate is a bit flimsy. It's an easy push-pull operation if you want to fix it. The diagonal supports on the sides could be larger too. If my bracket breaks, I'll fix it and update the file here. But it ain't broke yet, so I'm not fixing it. UPDATE: If you own a Sunhokey Prusa i3 with an acrylic chassis, use the Sunhokey fan bracket, not the other one. The Sunhokey one has a cutaway that allows the X-carriage fixture to travel through on its way up the Z-axis. Don't ask me how I figured this out. Print Settings Printer Brand: RepRap Printer: Prusa i3 Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 10% Notes: I printed this quickly and dirtily. You may not need supports on your printer. I forgot to turn them off on mine... Same with the infill. I would have gone with 30% if my head was properly attached. 30% is usually sturdy enough for low-stress stuff like this. How I Designed This Quick Sketchup job. Measured the holes on the fan and the main board, eyeballed the width and height of the bracket, added some supporting struts along the corners and pushed and pulled surfaces until I thought it was sturdy enough while allowing my fairly short mounting screws to pass through the main board, the bracket, and the acrylic structure of the printer.
