8-Leaf Fully Printable Iris Box
thingiverse
Curious about why Thingiverse's iris boxes have five leaves? The answer lies in complexity and design possibilities. An 8-leaf version is printable with contrasting colors for the upper and lower parts of the leaves. When closed, only the top part is visible; as it opens, the bottom piece becomes exposed. This model requires no screws or glue, but may need adhesive depending on your printer's tolerances. Print each STL file, select leaf colors, place the mechanism ring on the base, and snap leaf bottoms into holes while ensuring proper engagement with the slot in the mechanism ring. Attach leaf tops, possibly using glue for better hold.
