This custom-built 8-bit violin was designed with MIDI compatibility in mind for a client seeking a unique musical experience. The body, made from basswood, features two interior options - one for an acoustic tone and another to minimize resonance for better Pitch to MIDI conversion. Crafted by EVL, it boasts a maple back plate with a wider lower bout for attaching a shoulder rest. A standard 5-string neck is used, or a traditional 4-string option is available. Traditional violin components like the tailpiece and chin rest are included. To make it MIDI compatible, a Barbera pickup and RMC preamp are utilized, all finished with a high-gloss polyurethane coating.
