myminifactory
The HMS Naiad was a Royal Navy fifth-rate frigate with a long history and 101 years of life. It was built in 1797 in Limehouse (England). It participated in the French Napoleonic and Revolutionary Wars, such as the Battle of Trafalgar. Circa 1 October, the arrival of the frigates Naiad, Phoebe, Sirius, Juno, and Niger off Cadiz allowed Nelson to detach them to disrupt local shipping supplying provisions for the joint fleet in Cadiz. By 10 October Naiad was engaged in the tactical preparations etc. for the forthcoming battle. On 20 October the combined fleet departed Cadiz. During the Battle of Trafalgar on 21 October, Naiad was too small to take part in the battle itself. Instead, she lay to windward of the action. After the battle she destroyed the grounded Monarca and towed Belleisle to Gibraltar. Designed by Saturnalia Studios. Scale 1:650. Optimized for FDM printing and easy painting. Also includes combat sails, masts without sails and game card (Fire and Sails game).
