$8.00Ancient amphora pack (72 models)
myminifactory
This large pack includes many types of historically accurate amphorae from the ancient world, mostly Greco-roman. These are designed to be used for 28mm scale miniatures and dioramas but as one of the images shows, it is possible to upscale them considerably and they still work. The handles as well as the slim end of some of the amphoras have been thickened a bit to make printing easier, but aside from that, the amphoras are quite realistic and designed after real examples with very minor variations due to the small scales involved. There is a free sample on my profile with three models so you can test them first if you want. As there are many types of 28mm miniatures, if you are using more heroic-sized ones, I'd recommend scaling the models a bit, perhaps 20-30% Due to the size of the pack, there are two large files where all the models come ready for printing. One, flat_amphorae, includes all the models with a flat base, including those labeled as "other_" in the individual files. These come hollowed and with a hole on the top, except for two unique models with the hole on the base. However, that is optional and you should be able to print the individual files right away. The other large file is spike_amphorae. This includes all the models with the "spiky" end. These were amphorae used for shipping, as their usually slender shape allowed for easier stacking, either vertical (as one of the pictures shows) or horizontally like we might stack wine bottles. These are also hollowed, if possible, and come pre-supported since their base is too narrow to be printed directly on the plate. The big_amphorae is two models scaled up 500% that I have personally tested and printed. I naturally have not tested this with all models, but my advice is to hollow them (including one as near to the base as possible) and add supports if needed around the lip. All these models also come individually, prefixed as flat, sp (spike) or other, which are flat amphorae that don't fit the commercial or more generic function of the others and many were either decorative, ceremonial, or used at home. A few are technically not even amphorae but I liked their design and added them anyway. The individual sp_ files do not come pre-supported since people might want to scale them or change them in different ways. To add supports, check the spike_amphorae to get an idea on how it might be done. Basically, use a large, heavy support at the end of the amphora, quite thick [1.2 to 1.5mm in diameter, contact diameter as large as you can, usually 0.4, and fairly deep, 0.4-0.5mm], and a few (from 4-8) light or medium ones slightly above and around to give extra support so the model doesn't wobble. Once done, just clone the model as many times as you need. You can easily print 40 or more of the slender models in a single printing batch.
