I've yet to put it through its paces since my quail still haven't cracked their eggs, but the dimensions should be spot on and it should hold up well. Simply wrap it around the leg and apply a bead of UV curing resin or something similar in the joint. Maybe fast-setting epoxy would work just as well too. Or acetone weld it - I'm not really sure what to recommend. ASA is probably your best bet, I used ABS since I had a bunch of spare samples in various colors on hand.
