The puzzles originate from a cube comprising 27 sub-cubes - see object:1570354. The openSCAD code contains a comprehensive list of 7849 three-piece puzzles, any of which can be constructed. Here are six sample puzzles. Five of these puzzles can be assembled into a cube. The puzzle in cube_three_5016.stl can only be solved virtually, as one piece must be broken to form the cube. The puzzle sets are numbered from 1 to 7849 and the STL file names include the number corresponding to each set that makes up the puzzle. Additional details can be found within the openSCAD code. Notes This is a small subset of all possible three-piece puzzles. A detailed description of the calculations leading to these puzzles is available in puzzle_table.scad. Opening puzzle_table.scad in Notepad will allow you to view this information. View_9_sets.scad generates one or more shapes within this subset. The puzzles vary significantly in difficulty, with those having larger set numbers being generally more challenging. Puzzle 1 consists of three 3x3 rectangular slabs. Puzzles sets 2 through 170 contain a single 3x3 slab and 169 combinations of pieces that fill the remaining space.
