Biface Fragment, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-U82 Okada excavations HHU, Level 5. Hot Springs 2B. 500-800 CE. The massive village of Hot Springs sprawls along the shore of Port Moller, situated on the southern Bering Sea side of the Alaska Peninsula. Over the past century, multiple teams have extensively excavated this site, unearthing a rich history that spans two distinct periods: 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE, and 100 CE to 800 CE. The artifacts from Hot Springs Village were meticulously documented as a direct result of groundbreaking research conducted under NSF grants 0137756, 1204020, 1139266, and 1321411. H. Maschner spearheaded this project as Principal Investigator. The initial digitization took place at the IVL at Idaho State University, with subsequent processing carried out by Global Digital Heritage.
