Bifacial Knife or Small Adze Found in Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska. CAT# 77-57-U57: Okada Excavations Yield Valuable Insights at HHU, Level 4B. Hot Springs 2B: A Rich Cultural Legacy Unfolds from 500 to 800 CE. Perched on the shores of Port Moller, the Hot Springs site stands as a testament to the rich history of human habitation in this region. Spanning over 100 years, multiple excavation teams have meticulously uncovered the secrets of this massive village, revealing two distinct periods of occupation: from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE, and again between 100 CE and 800 CE. The artifacts unearthed at Hot Springs have been carefully documented as part of a research project supported by grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner, the principal investigator, has led this effort with dedication and expertise. The original digitization work was conducted at the IVL at Idaho State University, while subsequent processing was completed at Global Digital Heritage.
