Russell Creek Point, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-U54 Okada excavations HHU, Level 4B. Hot Springs 2B. 500-800 CE. The massive village of Hot Springs sprawls along the shore of Port Moller on the southern Bering Sea's Alaska Peninsula side. Over a century ago, several teams began excavating this site, uncovering a wealth of history in the process. The main periods of occupation date back to 2000 BCE and stretch forward to 100 CE, while another significant phase occurred from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are a direct result of research funded by grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led the investigation as Principal Investigator. Initial digitization took place at Idaho State University's IVL, while subsequent processing was completed at Global Digital Heritage.
