Biface, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-U53 Okada excavations HHU, Level 4B. Hot Springs 2B. 500-800 CE. The massive village of Hot Springs sits proudly on the shore of Port Moller, boasting a stunning view of the southern Bering Sea on the Alaska Peninsula side. Over the past century, several different excavation teams have worked tirelessly to uncover its secrets. The primary occupations date back to 2000 BCE and stretch through to 100 CE, while another significant period of habitation took place from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are a direct result of extensive research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led the charge as Principal Investigator. The original digitizing work was done at the IVL at Idahoa State University, with subsequent processing completed at Global Digital Heritage.
