Biface, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-U390 Okada excavations HHU, Level 8A. Hot Springs 1A.2000-1600 BCE. The massive village of Hot Springs lies on the shore of Port Moller, situated on the southern Bering Sea side of the Alaska Peninsula. Over a century of excavation work has been conducted by multiple teams. The main periods of occupation stretch from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE, and then again from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are the result of thorough research carried out under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led this investigation as Principal Investigator. Initial digitization efforts took place at the IVL on Id. St. Univ.'s campus, while subsequent processing was completed at Global Digital Heritage.
