Harpoon Fragment, Slot for End Blade, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-U312 Okada excavations HHU, Level 7b. Hot Springs 1B.1600-1300 BCE. The massive village of Hot Springs sits on the shore of Port Moller, where the southern Bering Sea meets the Alaska Peninsula. Multiple excavation teams have spent the last century uncovering its secrets. Primary occupations date back to 2000 BCE and 100 CE, with a second wave from 800 CE to 1000 CE. The results of this research are presented as part of ongoing studies under NSF grants 0137756, 1204020, 1139266, and 1321411. H. Maschner led the investigation. Initial digitization took place at the Iditarod campus of the University of Alaska Southeast, while subsequent processing was completed by Global Digital Heritage.
