Harpoon Fragment, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-U255 Okada excavations HHU, Level 7. Hot Springs1C. 1300-1000 BCE. The massive village of Hot Springs lies on the shore of Port Moller, situated on the Alaska Peninsula side of the southern Bering Sea. For over a century, multiple excavation teams have worked tirelessly to uncover its secrets. The primary occupations at this site date back from 2000 BCE-1000 BCE, and again from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are presented as a direct result of research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner serves as the Principal Investigator behind this groundbreaking project. Original digitizing work was carried out at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing took place at Global Digital Heritage.
