Modified Scapula Tool, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-U25 Okada excavations HHU, Level 3. Hot Springs 2B. 500-800 CE. The massive village of Hot Springs lies on the shore of Port Moller, facing the southern Bering Sea on the Alaska Peninsula side. Over a century's worth of excavation work has been carried out by multiple teams of researchers. The primary occupations span two periods: from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE and again from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are presented as a result of research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner is the Principal Investigator who led this project. The original digitizing work was done at the IVL in Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing took place at Global Digital Heritage.
