The massive village of Hot Springs thrives on the shore of Port Moller, where the southern Bering Sea meets the Alaska Peninsula. For over a century, several teams have worked tirelessly to uncover its secrets through excavation. Primary occupations date back to 2000 BCE and stretch forward in time to 100 CE, while another significant period falls between 100 CE and 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are a direct result of extensive research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led the charge as Principal Investigator. The original digitization took place at the IVL within Id. St. Univ., with subsequent processing completed at Global Digital Heritage.
