Harpoon, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-U223 Okada excavations HHU, Level 6. Hot Springs 1C. 1300-1000 BCE. The massive village of Hot Springs sits on the shore of Port Moller, facing the southern Bering Sea from the Alaska Peninsula side. Multiple excavation teams have worked at the site over the past century. The main periods of occupation date back to 2000 BCE-1000 BCE and 100 CE-800 CE. The artifacts unearthed at Hot Springs Village are a direct result of research conducted under NSF grants 0137756, 1204020, 1139266, and 1321411. H. Maschner led the investigation as Principal Investigator. Initial digitization took place at the IVL lab on the campus of Idaho State University, with subsequent processing completed by Global Digital Heritage.
