Human: Excavation Site, Port Moller, Alaska, Hot Springs Village, CAT# 77-47-U200 Okada excavations HHU, Level 6. Hot Springs 1C, 1300-1000 BCE established. The massive village of Hot Springs, situated on the shore of Port Moller and facing the southern Bering Sea on the Alaska Peninsula, has been a focus for excavation by multiple teams over the past century. Primary occupations at the site date back to 2000 BCE-1000 BCE and again from 100 CE to 800 CE, with significant human activity during these periods. The artifacts discovered at Hot Springs were produced as part of research projects funded by grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411, led by H. Maschner as Principal Investigator.
