Human: Upper Blade End Section, Hot Springs Village, Port Moller Coastal Site, Alaska CAT# 77-47-U128 Okada excavations HHU, Level 5. Hot Springs 2B. 500-800 CE. The Hot Springs site is a massive coastal village situated on the shore of Port Moller, on the southern Bering Sea side of the Alaska Peninsula. For over 100 years, multiple excavation teams have worked tirelessly to uncover its secrets. The primary occupations date back to 2000 BCE and continue through 100 CE, with a secondary occupation period spanning from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts were carefully collected as a direct result of research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner served as the lead Principal Investigator overseeing the project. The original digitization work was completed at the IVL at Idaho State University, with subsequent processing undertaken at Global Digital Heritage.
