The composite tool features a Fish Hook Barb or Leister Barb. This artifact was uncovered in Hot Springs Village, located on the shores of Port Moller in Alaska, under the designation CAT# 77-47-T92. The excavation site is associated with Okada excavations HHT, specifically Pit 1 and House B, which is believed to be a part of the Hot Springs 1C complex. Radiocarbon dating suggests an age range of approximately 1300-1000 BCE. The Hot Springs site is a substantial village situated on the shores of Port Moller in southern Alaska, overlooking the Bering Sea. The area has been excavated by various research teams over the past century. Main occupation periods were established between 2000 BCE and 1000 BCE, as well as from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are presented here as a result of research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner serves as the Principal Investigator for this project. Initial digitization efforts were carried out at the IVL (Idaho State University) laboratory, while subsequent processing was completed at Global Digital Heritage.
