Russell Creek Point. Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-T82 Okada excavations HHT, Level 5A. Hot Springs 1B. 1600-1300 BCE. The massive village of Hot Springs sits on the shore of Port Moller, where the southern Bering Sea meets the Alaska Peninsula. For over a century, various teams have worked tirelessly to uncover its secrets through extensive excavations. The main periods of occupation at this site span from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE and again from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are showcased as a direct result of research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led this groundbreaking investigation as the Principal Investigator. The initial digitizing work was performed at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., with subsequent processing completed at Global Digital Heritage.
