Hafted Knife. Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-T53 Okada excavations HHT, Level 3A. Hot Springs 1B. 1600-1300 BCE Excavators Uncover Ancient Treasure in Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska. A Hafted Knife Discovered Amidst the Remains of a Massive Village on the Shore of Port Moller. The village, located on the Alaska Peninsula side of the southern Bering Sea, has been extensively excavated by multiple teams over the past century. Two distinct periods of occupation have been identified: from 2000 BCE to 1000 BCE and again from 100 CE to 800 CE. Researchers at Hot Springs Village have made groundbreaking discoveries, thanks in part to grants from NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner, Principal Investigator, led the research efforts. The original digitization of artifacts was conducted at the IVL at Idaho State University, with subsequent processing completed at Global Digital Heritage.
