Human: End Blade. Hot Springs Village, Port Moller, Alaska CAT# 77-47-T38 Okada excavations HHT, Level 3A. Hot Springs 1B. 1600-1300 BCE The vast village of Hot Springs sprawls along the shores of Port Moller, situated on the rugged Alaska Peninsula side of the southern Bering Sea. Over a century's worth of excavations has been conducted by multiple teams, revealing a complex history that spans thousands of years. Major occupations at the site date back to 2000 BCE and continued through 1000 BCE, while a later period of habitation unfolded from 100 CE to 800 CE. The Hot Springs artifacts are showcased as a direct result of thorough research conducted under grants NSF 0137756, NSF 1204020, NSF 1139266, and NSF 1321411. H. Maschner led the investigation as Principal Investigator. Initial digitizing work was carried out at the IVL at Id. St. Univ., while subsequent processing was completed at Global Digital Heritage.
